It's actually just a short stretch of track between the level crossing and Lindenallee.

But it is Neubiberg's heart mile, the renovation of which the Neubiberg municipal council recently discussed controversially.

Neubiberg

- The opinions in the Council differed so much in view of the costs of around 340,000 euros that the next meeting has to be discussed again.

What some in the council considered urgently needed in view of the poor condition of the roads, others saw as patchwork.

In the end, it was agreed to invite a competent planner and then explore the difficult subject again.

Construction trucks could damage the road again

It's only about the main street at first glance.

The major structural projects such as the new town hall building and senior citizens' center in the immediate vicinity must also be taken into account.

For what feels like an eternity, the question has been in the room as to whether, when and how the level crossing will still be made barrier-free by means of an underpass, overpass or otherwise for car traffic along the main road.

Why put a lot of money into a renovation now when truck traffic will soon be rolling to the construction sites.

"They will not all come with the wheelbarrow," emphasized Kilian Körner (Greens).

He was one of the critics of the planned redevelopment.

"Is 340,000 euros well invested if the situation for cyclists on site does not improve as a result?" Körner asked.

Group colleague Lucia Kott followed suit.

"It needs the mobility turnaround".

security endangered

Mayor Thomas Pardeller (CSU) had a different view.

"It looks wild there - the problem is that the road must therefore be renovated." Otherwise, safety on site could not be guaranteed in view of the concrete craters.

One should not hesitate here, said Volker Buck (SPD).

"There is no telling when the big level crossing solution will come."

One cannot wait for that.

Hartmut Lilge (CSU) tried a compromise.

He suggested what he considered to be a "more cost-effective model for a temporary renovation".

You have to act cost-effectively.

"It's unacceptable that we now spend 340,000 euros and start again after the big construction sites."

The head of the building department, Christian Einzmann, didn't want to share the excitement.

"This is a measure limited to four to six weeks."

The flow of traffic will be maintained throughout the entire project phase.

Especially since the southern area has already been completed.

Worry about traffic chaos

Some worry lines remained.

Tobias Thalhammer (CSU) was "afraid of traffic chaos".

The submission from the administration reads “much too positively”.

His party colleague Eva-Nicola Gehringer held against it.

"I don't understand the debate.

We will always have major construction sites in the coming years.” Neubiberg is growing – and with it the construction sites.

It makes no sense not to rehabilitate this dangerous section now.

Michael Weigle (FDP) saw the discussion in a dead end.

"Don't decide today and invite a specialist planner to the next meeting," was his credo.

It was unanimously given the green light.
