Dießen – With a "missed opportunity", market councilor Michael Hofmann (BP) regretted the decision of his fellow campaigners to participate in a joint security guard for Schondorf, Utting and Dießen.

As reported in KREISBOTEN, the majority of the two neighboring communities had already decided in favor of a voluntary citizens' patrol, while the Diessen councilors now rejected the Interior Ministry's offer by a score of 13:9.

Instead, they voted for street workers.

After the public part, concerned spectators of the municipal council meeting showed no understanding for the negative attitude, especially since vandalism by young bullies is evident in Dießen, especially around the station through wanton destruction.

The mere presence of a security guard who suddenly appeared could prevent disaster.

In addition, neither the administration nor the budget would be burdened with a security guard.

The Ministry of the Interior is responsible for training, equipment and payment, while the Dießen Police Inspectorate looks after the employees who are hired according to strict selection criteria and coordinates their operations.

Even the detailed presentation by police chief Alfred Ziegler did not help to convince the municipal councils of the advantages of a security guard, which is now successfully active in 150 Bavarian municipalities and cities.

This is also the case in Landsberg, Kaufering and Denklingen.

The argument that "we have the police station in Dießen" didn't work with head of inspection Ziegler: "At night there's usually only one patrol.

If she's in Eching and an emergency call comes in from Dießen, she can hardly do anything when things get busy again at the station." Local councilor Johann Rieß (free voters) expressed concerns if a young bully had a "security guard early retiree ' assaulted.

Trained police officers could defend themselves better here than laypeople who had only been trained for a short time.

Michael Hofmann commented on the refusal not to participate in a joint security guard as "extremely lacking in solidarity with the communities of Schondorf and Utting".

False hopes are linked to the decision to hire one of their own street workers and a group street worker: “Street workers are trained to look after the homeless, drug addicts and prostitutes.

They are not responsible for rampaging, violent and uneducated young people," he said.

That's why he also asked for a precise job description after the municipal council voted 16:6 for their own street worker and participation in another position together with Schondorf and Utting.

Michael Lutzeier (Die PARTEI) was the driving force behind hiring one “or even better one and a half” street workers exclusively for Dießen in addition to the union office.
