A day after the shocking accident that claimed the lives of three people, police are trying to understand the circumstances of the incident • The suspicion: reckless driving • The possibility that the driver was under the influence of drugs is being investigated

Lachish Police Road Accident Investigators Investigating the circumstances of the fatal accident on Tuesday in which three people were found dead decided to arrest the truck driver involved in the accident.

The driver, 27, a resident of East Jerusalem, who was slightly injured, was released from the hospital and arrested as stated.

The police have asked the Ashkelon Magistrate's Court to extend his detention and attribute to him offenses of causing death by negligence and reckless driving.

The court granted the request and his detention was extended until next Sunday.

The three victims of the accident: Fantans Owenach, 40, from Kiryat Malachi, Tzipi Shimoni, 36, from Sde Uziya, and Matanya Ayubi, 32, from Ibn Shmuel, were laid to rest at night.

The condition of a Kiryat Malachi resident who was fatally injured in an accident has stabilized.

He was hospitalized after the accident in Assuta Ashdod where his condition stabilized and he was transferred to Sheba when his condition is now defined as serious.

The suspicion: reckless driving

As we reported in the last day, the investigation of the accident so far shows that a traffic jam was created on the Azrikam Beer Tuvia road due to a defective vehicle.

At one point the truck reached a bend at high speed and the driver, according to the suspicion, did not notice the vehicles standing.

He collided with a standing vehicle, veered into the opposite lane, hit several vehicles and overturned on two of them.

Because of this the police attribute reckless driving to him.

It is also not yet clear what caused him not to slow down or notice the vehicles standing.

Tests were usually taken for the driver to be under the influence of drugs and intoxication, but the results have not yet been obtained.

However, a number of findings at the scene reinforce the suspicion that he was driving at a very high speed and therefore noticed a traffic jam late.

It appears that the containment attempt was also unsuccessful due to the speed at which he was traveling, but the police are now analyzing the findings to determine this with certainty.

3 killed, 21 orphans

The three dead were brought to eternal rest.

They left behind no less than 21 orphaned children.

The late Tzipi Shimoni, who was laid to rest in her hometown of Sde Uziyahu, is a mother of 10 children, the eldest 15 years old and the youngest 4 months old.

The late Ayubi from Ibn Shmuel was a father of three when his youngest son was only a month old. His friend said that he was on his way to the Memorial Day ceremony in his hometown.
