Raqqa-Sana
Heavy rains led to the formation of torrential rains and the collapse of Al-Shraideh Bridge, located on the Raqqa-Deir Al-Zour highway, in the liberated eastern countryside of Raqqa.
The Governor of Raqqa, Abdul Razzaq Khalifa, confirmed in a statement to SANA that the heavy rains in the Badia led to the formation of torrents and the collapse of the Al-Shraideh Bridge, as the bridge is weak in structural structure, and the torrents threatened the Al-Kharar and Khneifis bridges in the liberated countryside of the governorate.
Khalifa confirmed that the Directorate of Technical Services and Civil Society has been directed to mobilize mechanisms in anticipation of the formation of floods, and the damages will be counted, especially in agricultural lands, within a short time, and the bridge will be rehabilitated temporarily, knowing that the bridge was placed within the central road plan for its full rehabilitation for 2022.
The international coalition, led by the United States, destroyed all bridges in Raqqa governorate, as part of its targeting of the infrastructure in Syria and its allegations of war against the terrorist “ISIS” organization, and work is being done to rehabilitate some of them temporarily.
The heavy rains witnessed in the Jazira and Badia region during the past days led to the flow of valleys and flooding of agricultural lands.
