A woman from Duisburg offered several puppies for sale – the puppies were only a few days old.

But the illegal trade was stopped.

Duisburg – They were still very small and were lying close together in a cardboard box: The Pinscher puppies, which a woman from Duisburg offered for sale, are said to have been just six days old, as 24RHEIN reports.

Puppies rescued in Duisburg: Six-day-old dogs offered for sale

The woman offered the puppies on Ebay classifieds.

The animals were still far too young to be separated from their mothers.

As a rule, puppies are only given to a new owner between eight and twelve weeks.

The German Animal Welfare Dog Ordinance even stipulates that a puppy “may only be separated from its mother when it is more than eight weeks old”.

The 40-year-old apparently didn't stick to that when she advertised the animals online.

A man spotted the offer.

At first he pretended to be interested.

But he was pursuing a plan: he wanted to prevent the illegal animal trade.

The 51-year-old made an appointment to buy four puppies.

The price: 750 euros.

But instead of the man, the vendors opened the door to plainclothes police officers.

The man called the police.

Illegal pet trade is not uncommon: Again and again, puppies have to be rescued from completely neglected situations.

Illegal animal trade: Police discover more dogs in Duisburg apartment

At the agreed time on Monday afternoon, April 25, the police officers met two women and two men between the ages of 22 and 44.

In their hands they held a box with four puppies.

The pinscher puppies squeaked loudly, their eyes were still closed.

But the police made another discovery in the apartment on Wanheimer Strasse: three other puppies and three growing dogs were also housed there.

The dogs were hidden in a small built-in closet with no food or water.

The police took away all ten dogs and took them to an animal shelter.

The women and men now have to reckon with proceedings against the Animal Welfare Act.
