A bizarre and misleading conversation with Tomás Díaz Ayuso: "It's a bitch to be affected by what my sister is"

2022-05-05T22:10:04.413Z

The brother of the Madrid president is a faceless man who does not appreciate conflicts of interest and believes he has the right to continue selling to the Madrid public health system

Tomás Díaz Ayuso is not the person who appears in the photo that many media have published of him, taken from the Instagram of his sister president.

In that photo, Isabel Díaz Ayuso is seen at the Vicente Calderón stadium hugging another man, both in tracksuits, on the day of a popular race.

"He is a cousin of mine who you are making dust," Tomás tells this newspaper in a 50-minute telephone conversation.

"I'm not from

Atleti

nor do I go anywhere in shorts."

Tomás has been playing cluelessness for half a year.

That is why it is not surprising that he resorts to deception when contacted by this newspaper to explain why he bought masks from an inexperienced and fraudulent Chinese factory (as appears in the purchase file that the Community itself provided to EL PAÍS in March of this year). .

"Come on, come on, you publish," says the challenger, hiding the fact that he changed factories.

Ayuso's brother was closely acquainted with two key people in the purchases of the Madrid Ministry of Health

Tomás is a faceless man who has never given interviews to the press, but in the conversation with this newspaper he entertains himself, vents about the bad experience he is going through and lowers his guard: “It's a bitch.

Really the word, or the definition, is that she is a bitch that according to what your sister does, you have to be affected ”.

He has been in the crosshairs of the media since public scrutiny began in November for a mask contract that the Community of Madrid awarded to a close friend.

He, who was the one who really bought the material and also profited from it, believes that he does not owe the public an explanation.

He, too, is not aware of the conflict of interest he was facing when his sister became president.

Tomás is a health salesman who has lived since 1995 selling medical products to Madrid's public health system.

When Isabel came to power in 2019, the seller and the boss of all the buyers were linked by blood.

To him that seemed "a bitch", but he did not stop doing what he always did.

He acknowledges that after the sale in which he participated under the umbrella of his friend, he has continued to sell to the Madrid health service: “Really, a political hunt is being carried out with this matter.

I have dedicated my whole life exclusively to this profession.

In fact, I'm still working on this.

News from me will still appear again that tomorrow or the day after in the

infanta hospital whatever

Tomás is has sold something.

Sure, I'm dedicated to this.

So this is beyond me."

Tomás does not reveal where it is, but it must be an open space because birds and a dog can be heard barking.

Last week he did not appear at the Madrid City Hall, where the investigation commission on espionage against his sister had summoned him.

It was reported that he was "unaccounted for".

He is annoyed that some jokes have been made on television comparing his absence with the mythical television program

Who knows where?

He also says he is tired of appearing day in and day out in seemingly irrelevant information, such as that he owns a junkyard in Seville.

Other information has indicated that he enriched himself from more sales to the Community of Madrid.

“It is that I am already going for 25 million euros, you know?

Three million from I don't know where, then we sold the electricity in Arroyomolinos, then a contract with I don't know what, then a contract with my father-in-law who wasn't my father-in-law... when you've sold so many millions and besides, it's always bad... because Damn, we could dedicate ourselves to selling works of art, or pretty things that you say 'damn, we haven't paid taxes', but you look good.

But the Ayusos are always gypsies.

We always have to be screwing it up and selling dirty things.

We never get it right,” he says, expressing ennui.

The reason for the interview is the purchase for which he is being investigated by the Anti-Corruption and European prosecutors.

He has already testified before the first of them, on April 6, and says he has delivered all the documents that they demanded, including the quality certificates of the FFP2 masks that he bought in China.

The product from the second factory is also suspected of poor quality.

A certificate made public by

El Español

This Tuesday is not a guarantee of security, as the Italian laboratory that issued it has recognized this newspaper.

The center does not have European legal authorization to evaluate personal protective equipment (PPE) and did not examine the masks, but only the technical documentation.

The Prosecutor's Office is investigating the validity of the other two certificates, of Chinese origin, as EL PAÍS has learned.

Emails

The Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office has also requested his email communications, according to him.

The appearance left him with a bad body.

“The Anti-Corruption and Organized Crime Prosecutor's Office, which is a very serious thing, and unfortunately I and my whole family are involved there, has made a series of requests and concerns and has told me to present these papers to me and there they are.

So to wait.

I hope that in the end, since it is a matter of papers more than anything, everything is checked and the Prosecutor's Office conscientiously studies everything that I have contributed, with my statement and that it makes the decision that it has to make.

Nothing more".

Asked if, if he was so sure of his work, why did he turn to Priviet Sportive and not present himself with his own company as the successful bidder?, Tomás Díaz Ayuso answers: “How I do business or how I manage it is not Absolutely nobody's business, as long as those businesses are clear and legal and one complies with their tax obligations”, pointing out that the contract initiative was his and not his friend Daniel's.

“If I had a company abroad or had been paid in Andorra or the

Faroe Islands

[sic] Well, I understand that the press would have echoed that this person has not done things well.

But, of course, I invoice as a freelancer and all my statements are in Spain.

I don't have foreign banks and my data is there.

I understand that the Spanish Tax Agency, the Public Prosecutor's Office and everyone else has my data.

They can never think that I am a person who has a double business standard, who has strange businesses, there are my data”.

The person who reviewed Priviet's offer and recommended the award is Manuel de la Puente, a well-known public health worker to whom Tomás sold in the past.

But Tomás says that this is a false lead: "With the people we were talking to, it wasn't Manuel de la Puente," he says enigmatically and then refuses to explain himself.

He says that he knows everyone in public health in Madrid.

“Do you know how many hospitals there are in Madrid?

33. Do you want me to tell you the name of the 18 most important managers in Madrid? The 18 medical directors? The 18 nursing directors and the 18...?

I know them all, dammit!

But I also know who the head of the UCI in Seville is, dammit.

And from Valencia and Murcia.

That I dedicate myself to this”.

the then candidate for the Madrid presidency Isabel Díaz Ayuso, and Enrique Ruiz Escudero, Minister of Health.

Then, worried, he clarifies: “That in no case have we benefited from any type of contract because I am I don't know who, my sister is I don't know who.

There has been no type of interaction with any person, especially from Sermas, the general directorate of health, or whoever I have worked with at any time, or with any person who says: 'Hey, boy, look at this for me'.

That's what I'm saying.

I understand, I hope and wish that it is not misrepresented and that we do not focus on the fact that there was a contact person.

There are no contact persons.

There is generic and specific work that is done every day and every year in which the need arises.

Let's see if it is that now when the subject of covid came up, everyone was not called, of course ”.

Tomás says goodbye asking the journalist that if the Prosecutor's Office files the investigation, he remembers to call him to recognize him.

"I'm going to be excited if you tell me: 'Boy, everything was fine' in two, three, four months, I don't know the deadlines of the Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office for its investigations."

And he adds that, according to him, everything is in order.

"Papers.

This roll is of papers.

It's not about anything else."

For her part, Isabel Díaz Ayuso was convinced on Wednesday that the case of the public contract for the purchase of masks linked to her brother will be archived.

“Now what it is time to sow suspicion, because that way something remains”, she complained at an informative breakfast in Madrid.
