Berglern's fire brigade is well equipped, but time is running out for the fire engine

The Berglern municipal council has updated the fire brigade requirements plan by unanimous decision and thus also created the basis for further procurements of vehicles.

The community is slowly having to think about how to get a replacement for the TLF 16/25 tank pumper, which is now 25 years old.

But that is a difficult subject.

Berglern - district fire inspector Lorenz Huber reported that Berglern had to assume exorbitant cost increases.

He knew of an example where the price for one and the same vehicle had increased by 200,000 euros within four years.

There was no way it could go on like this, he complained.

There are reports of a vehicle manufacturer who has a large batch of fully assembled bodies in the yard but has no idea how to get the necessary chassis because the truck manufacturers cannot deliver.

Delivery times of three years are normal these days, Huber corrected opinions from the municipal council, where two years were still spoken of.

In addition, of course, there are internal plans and tenders, so it could take five years to get a new vehicle.

Then the TLF would be 30 years old and would have to be replaced anyway.

Some councils have already painted the bogeyman TÜV on the wall.

Huber also said that this ultimately decides how long the tank pumper can remain in operation.

Otherwise, when presenting the requirements plan, he summed up that the municipality was in an excellent position.

For example, the district fire inspector described the team strengths as “very good” for both the youth and the active team.

The fire brigade is even better off than the commander reported when it comes to the daily alarm security, which is a topic that is repeatedly discussed.

According to Huber's calculations, twelve volunteers can move out during core working hours.

Three sirens are purchased

According to Berglern Mayor Anton Scherer, the support program for digitally controlled siren systems has been extended until 2023.

With a unanimous decision, the community gets involved in this program and also installs sirens to warn the population.

Two systems will be erected on masts, another on an existing roof of a community-owned building.

It is calculated with costs of 47,000 euros.

According to current documents, the federal government reimburses 45,550 euros.

The mayor was empowered to solicit bids and prepare the tenders.

Scherer also announced that the municipal council had unanimously decided to accept a donation of 200 euros for the military.

According to the legal provisions, the council must decide on the acceptance of donations in a non-public session.

The second important topic, the deadline for help, is also ticked off for Berglern: “Everything except Heinrichsruh can be covered in the ten-minute deadline for help.” Heinrichsruh, in turn, can be reached perfectly from the neighboring Gaden fire brigade.

The community of Berglern benefits from the fact that the Eittinger neighbors had to invest in a new fire engine because of the Gaden-Mitte development area.

The district fire inspector found out that the fire load has changed in Berglern with a newly established company where up to 60 tons of plastic granules are stored.

At the same time, however, Huber made it clear that this could be covered well with the available resources.

His appraisal did not determine any further vehicle requirements for the next few years, and this is of crucial importance for the ongoing planning of a fire station.

At the meeting, the municipal council also approved the revised and now much more detailed statutes on reimbursement of costs for fire brigade operations.

It is the basis for the fact that for certain operations the municipality can be reimbursed for the costs of a fire brigade operation by insurance companies, but also by private individuals.
