Cash at the bank counter is not available everywhere at the Kreissparkasse Miesbach-Tegernsee.

The Raiffeisenbank in the Oberland is also affected, but offers an alternative.

District – The news from the neighboring district made waves nationwide: From May 30th, customers of Sparkasse Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen will not be able to deposit or withdraw cash at cash desks, with the exception of two locations.

You have to limit yourself to vending machines.

The counterpart in the local district, the Kreissparkasse Miesbach-Tegernsee, is currently not planning any further cuts, but anyway only offers counter deposits and withdrawals in four branches in the district.

When asked by our newspaper, spokeswoman Babette Oberwallner explains: "No far-reaching changes are planned at the moment." In Miesbach, Rottach-Egern, Gmund and Schliersee, customers have the option of withdrawing or depositing cash at the cash register.

All other branches with opening hours are equipped with a self-checkout, a kind of combination of service and ATM.

In addition, the 24-hour usable machines would come.

Sparkasse offers counter withdrawals in four of 14 branches

Conversely, this means that no cash can be paid in or out at counters at the locations in Bayrischzell, Fischbachau, Hausham, Holzkirchen, Irschenberg, Kreuth, Otterfing, Tegernsee, Waakirchen and Weyarn.

Oberwallner explains: "We are noticing a tendency in customer behavior that many things are already being processed via card payments or mobile payments." During the Corona period, this had become "even more attractive" for customers due to the possibility of contactless payment with Apple Pay.

Recently there has also been a new function on the machines: "Cash withdrawals with the smartphone," says the spokeswoman.

Customers of the Raiffeisenbank in the Oberland who are "unsafe at the machine" also do not get cash at the counter in all branches.

Specifically, this service no longer exists in Fischbachau, Schliersee and Weyarn.

Raiffeisenbank im Oberland has restricted counter payments in three branches

Karin Forster, assistant to the regional market management, explains that there is a "white card" in the cashless branches.

Customers can request cash as usual at the cash desk during opening hours, even without an EC card.

The staff book this order on a "white card" available in the branch, which then only has to be inserted into the machine.

With the information prepared by the staff, the device already knows how much money it has to pay out.

This would also provide customers without their own card and without knowledge with money.

"So the colleagues can help on site," summarizes Forster.

So far there have been no complaints about this variant.

Further changes for Raiffeisenbank branches in the Oberland are not planned in the Miesbach district.

"There is no fixed strategic goal of dropping the cash," emphasizes Forster.

Rather, the branches would be “successively adapted according to use and frequency” to customer behavior.

Translated, this should also mean: Where little is withdrawn, the “white card” comes.
