The G7 heads of state and government are to meet again at Schloss Elmau in June.

Many locals in the Garmisch-Partenkirchen region see this critically.

Now they have their say.

Garmisch-Partenkirchen - Almost two months before the G7 summit at Schloss Elmau in the district of Garmisch-Partenkirchen, the locals are again invited to an information session this Thursday, May 5th.

This time, the citizens of the Garmisch-Partenkirchen market are particularly addressed.

They will face significant restrictions around the June 26-28 meeting.

An information event on the G7 summit for citizens has already taken place in Krün.

G7 summit in Elmau: Minister of the Interior Herrmann answers questions from the locals

The G7 summit chaired by Chancellor Olaf Scholz (SPD) is scheduled for June 26-28.

The last G7 summit under the German presidency also took place in 2015 in the luxury hotel Schloss Elmau.

Government spokesman Steffen Hebestreit, Minister of the Interior Joachim Herrmann (CSU), District Administrator Anton Speer (free voters) and Mayor Elisabeth Koch (CSU) are now expected to answer questions from the locals in the Bayernhalle.

In addition, the President of the Police Headquarters in Upper Bavaria South, Manfred Hauser, and the Vice President of the Federal Police in Munich, Mr. Franz Xaver Vogl, will answer questions.

The event will be broadcast live on the community website.

Many citizens are not enthusiastic about the new summit.

Gastronomy and retail had already suffered sales losses seven years ago.

Traffic was temporarily stopped, some shops remained closed, and there were no tourists.

Around 18,000 police officers were in the region, and there were numerous controls.
