Because 230 graves are no longer occupied, the municipality also wants to turn the old Holzkirchner cemetery on Oskar-von-Miller-Platz into a small park.
Now the remodeling begins.
Holzkirchen
– Creating more green spaces in the village – the market town of Holzkirchen has committed itself to this goal.
This is also recorded in the local development concept.
A "green band" could be created in the future at the old cemetery on Oskar-von-Miller-Platz.
The municipality wants it to be designed like a park.
The local and traffic planning committee had already decided in November.
Azize-Sabriye Özdemir, who works in the building department of the town hall, presented the first steps to the main committee.
Accordingly, trees and hedges are gradually being planted and seating set up across the entire area.
They want to start planting now, "so that there will be beautiful trees in ten years," explained Özdemir.
This is possible because a good 230 grave sites are currently unoccupied.
"So what is a big effort for the cemetery gardener," explained Mayor Christoph Schmid (CSU).
Since no new graves will be created in certain areas of the cemetery in the future, the area thus gained can be replanted.
Overall, this should improve the quality of stay.
Options for urn and tree burials are also planned, as was clear from Özdemir's explanations.
This was well received by municipal councilor Anita Gritschneder (Greens): "This makes more exotic types of burial possible without everyone going to the new cemetery," said Gritschneder.
Sebastian Franz (CSU) emphasized that the cemetery would not be completely redesigned as a park, but would increase its attractiveness.
Martin Taubenberger (FWG) wished that burials should continue to be possible.
"We're not evicting anyone from the cemetery," the mayor assured.
Elisabeth Dasch (SPD) suggested relaxing the dog ban currently in force, in order to allow a visit to the cemetery with dogs on a leash.
The committee members unanimously decided to commission external landscape gardeners to implement the immediate measures that the architects TRR Ritz & Ließmann had developed.
In the long term, Özdemir explained, the municipal building yard will take care of this cemetery park.
