Prime Minister Winfried Kretschmann (Greens) does not want to evaluate the investigation into the affair about the disclosure of court files by Interior Minister Thomas Strobl (CDU).
A spokesman said on Thursday in Stuttgart: "The public prosecutor's office has started investigations, we generally do not comment on ongoing proceedings." There was nothing to add to the statement by the Prime Minister on Wednesday.
Stuttgart – No statement was initially available from the Ministry of the Interior.
Because Strobl passed on a letter from the accused officer's lawyer to a journalist, he is now officially under investigation.
The public prosecutor's office in Stuttgart announced on Wednesday evening that the investigation was directed against the journalist and the minister.
The reporter is suspected of having quoted official documents from the ongoing proceedings against the police officer.
Strobl, in turn, is said to have instigated him to do so.

SPD and FDP asked Kretschmann to fire Strobl.
The prime minister had backed the course of the CDU politician on Wednesday before the investigation against Strobl became known.
"I had the Minister of the Interior explain the situation to me.
He credibly explained to me that there was no violation of the law and that he was concerned with creating transparency," said the Green politician.
"I appreciate Thomas Strobl very much and he continues to have my full trust." dpa
