In the Gard, the Nîmes criminal court sentenced a defendant to eight months in prison for the attack on three firefighters during the May 1 demonstration, reports France Bleu.
He attacked the firefighters who came to treat him when he was injured.

At the end of the afternoon on Sunday, a team of firefighters takes care of an individual for a head injury.
But the man is visibly drunk and physically attacks the rescuers.
According to France Bleu, he tries to strangle one of them before knocking him down.
For its part, France Info explains that "
he began to insult them and came to blows
".

Keeping their calm and composure, all the responders continued the rescue mission while calling on the police
,” said the Gard firefighters in a press release.
Two days of ITT
After a medical examination, the individual was arrested by the police and then taken into custody.
In total, three firefighters filed a complaint and one of them was prescribed two days of temporary incapacity for work (ITT).
Judged in immediate appearance, the 31-year-old individual was therefore sentenced to 16 months in prison, eight of which were suspended on probation, as well as two years of work and care obligations.
He returned to custody following his conviction.

This conviction comes at the same time as another assault on a firefighter during the May Day demonstration, this time in Paris.
While a firefighter was trying to put out a fire of pallets on the sidelines of the procession, he was attacked by a protester, who struck him twice on his helmet.
Also judged in immediate appearance on Wednesday, the protester asked for a dismissal
“to take the time to say what really happened”.
She will be tried on June 1.
