The track in Altenerdinger Sepp-Brenninger-Stadion is broken.

The city council has now commissioned the renovation.

Altenerding – When the Sepp-Brenninger-Stadion received its blue tartan track in 2012, it was rumored that very special best times could be run on it.

This has never been confirmed, but it is obvious that the track is worn out in places and even broken.

The city council has now commissioned the renovation – for almost 188,000 euros from a Memmingen company.

City master builder Sebastian Henrich reported "that the track and segments are only partially safe for traffic".

But it's not just about repairs.

In addition, posts, stands and the puncture box of the pole vault would have to be relocated as well as the javelin throw.

Otherwise the mat cover can no longer be closed correctly.

In addition, standing water and deformed covers hinder the start of the long jump.

On the running track, the top layer of the back straight and in two curves had to be renewed.

Henrich also reported partial damage to the base covering - and all this after just ten years of use.

In an interview with our newspaper, Kerstin Weber, athletics trainer at TSV Erding, confirmed the need for renovation and showed on site how extensive the blue rubber had already come off the floor and had cracked.

This makes professional training more difficult and now also poses a risk.

The city master builder promised that the work should take place in the short term – in June.

There is a reason for the rush: the state championships in July are to take place in the Sepp Brenninger Stadium, as is the pre-camp of the German Athletics Association for the European Championships in August.
