The Latin mother of a police officer is shot to death when she opens the door of her house in New York

A 51-year-old Latina woman, the mother of a New York police officer, was shot to death on Wednesday at her home in the Queens neighborhood, according to local authorities.

Anna Torres was found with gunshot wounds shortly after two in the afternoon.
