According to a report, Volkswagen boss Herbert Diess is considering renaming the group.
In Wolfsburg, this creates resistance.
Wolfsburg – Volkswagen boss Herbert Diess wants to bring the car manufacturer into shape.
Now the busy manager has found a new project: In April, Diess announced to VW top people in his "Weekly Notes" that a new name for the group was under discussion.
This is reported by

Volkswagen and name change: Facebook and Google as role models
Accordingly, the Volkswagen Group as the parent company is not really its own brand, which reduces the value of the Volkswagen brands.
A team dealing with the topic will therefore suggest a completely new name as an example, writes
Manager Magazin
.
Role models are Google and Facebook, with the parent company names Alphabet and Meta.
Other car manufacturers such as the competitor Stellantis, which owns brands such as Peugeot, Fiat and Opel, also serve as a positive example.
But the group is rather opposed to this initiative: A renaming is currently not an issue, according to the reports from Diess environment to
Manager Magazin
.
A spokesman for the works council said: “Our group is called Volkswagen.
And it will stay that way.” It is therefore questionable to what extent the proposal will be pursued further.
Volkswagen: Aftermath after alleged name change in the USA
Last year, Volkswagen caused a stir with the name change: At the end of March 2021, the group announced in the USA that it would be renaming itself from Volkswagen to “Voltswagen”.
It was said that the aim was to underline the importance of electric cars for the future of the group.
After several media reports, Volkswagen backtracked - and explained that it was an April Fool's joke.
With a serious aftermath, because the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) subsequently checked whether the group could have influenced the stock market price.
According to the report, the new project by Diess is definitely not an April Fool's joke.
