Who killed Klaus Berninger in 1990?

The police have reopened the "cold case" - and possibly found the murder weapon.

The investigation is ongoing.

Wörth am Main – A knife was found at the scene of the crime during the investigation into the unsolved murder of Klaus Berninger.

Now the forensic investigation is in demand, because it is still unclear whether the knife is actually a possible murder weapon.

The knife was discovered on Tuesday evening (May 4) while searching the crime scene in Wörth am Main (Miltenberg district) using a metal detector.

That is what the police said.

The knife is "currently classified by investigators as possibly relevant to the crime," police said in a press release.

The youth was killed in late 1990.

The body of the 16-year-old baker's apprentice Klaus Berninger was found in a 2,500-square-meter forest.

At the beginning of this week, the forest was searched again by police officers.

According to the current status, the investigators are assuming that one or more people involved in the crime have local knowledge of the victim's environment.

The police had recently started to reopen the unsolved case, a so-called cold case.

According to previous knowledge, the young man died as a result of violence with a sharp-edged tool against his neck.
