Corona wave seems to be leveling off: RKI reports a sharp drop in incidence

The RKI once again reports a sharp fall in the incidence, and the number of new infections is also below the value of the previous week.
Will a relaxed Corona summer now follow?
Berlin – The corona wave in Germany seems to be slowly but surely flattening out, and the Robert Koch Institute is again reporting a sharp drop in the nationwide incidence.
However, the current infection numbers should not yet provide a complete picture.

As reported by the Robert Koch Institute on Friday, April 29, 2022, the nationwide incidence value per 100,000 inhabitants and week fell to 758.5.
For comparison: the value was 826.0 the day before, 733.4 in the previous week and 1703.3 in the previous month.
However, the incidence does not provide a complete picture of the development of the infection, also because the official reporting data depends on the testing behavior of the population.
The RKI therefore analyzes other parameters regularly - but not on a daily basis.
In their weekly report published on Thursday, the experts assumed, among other things, that the key figures for hospital admissions had continued to decrease.
According to the RKI, trends in the number of cases in the week after Easter can only be evaluated to a limited extent due to the public holidays and vacations.
However, the peak of the current wave has clearly been exceeded.
Nevertheless, there were still many infections.
Corona in Germany: number of new infections below the value of the previous week
The health authorities in Germany recently reported 101,610 new corona infections to the RKI within one day, according to figures from Friday morning.
In the previous week, the value of new infections was 161,718 infections.
The values vary significantly between the individual days of the week, as some federal states do not report to the RKI, especially at weekends.
According to the new information, 214 deaths were recorded across Germany within 24 hours.
A week ago there were 289 deaths.
This number also fluctuates a lot from day to day, since only a few data are reported to the RKI at the weekend.
With the easing of the corona measures, the mask requirement came to an end in many places.
This only applies in exceptional cases.
