The Diana-Schützen Harthofen-Reithofen got through the pandemic with creative actions.

Today the club has more members than ever before.

Reithofen

– The Diana riflemen in Reithofen have two mixed years behind them.

"We don't want to experience that again any time soon," said Markus Stanner.

The rifle champion reported on extraordinary situations at the annual general meeting in the Reithofen rifle club.

For the club, the Corona crisis began with the cancellation of the strong beer festival.

"It would have been on the eve of the 2020 local elections," reported secretary Alois Huber.

The traditionally scathing speeches had been prepared for weeks.

"Maybe they would have changed the election," Huber said with a wink.

The entrance fee was returned.

It was also bad that the strong beer could not be served.

"We couldn't drink it all ourselves," Stanner recalled.

A part was filled into beer mugs and set up at the pond with a lot of distance.

"The Reithofener could help themselves here." The rest had to be poured away.

"Hendl to go" a resounding success

In the following weeks and months, the association looked for solutions on how the Reithofener and their guests could get a little variety in the almost contactless time.

In February 2021 there was "Hendl to go" at the Schützenheim - it was a resounding success, the line of cars was long, the capacities of the grills had to be increased after a few hours.

In March, the campaign was repeated just as successfully with knuckles of pork, in May there were spare ribs, and in summer there was a gourmet mile with regional delicacies with a strict hygiene concept.

Economically, the shooters didn't lose any feathers, quite the opposite.

Since, according to Stanner, the association has a license as a catering business and has been able to show “books that have been kept properly and honestly for years”, Corona bridging aid could be applied for.

According to treasurer Herbert Hirschmann, these went into the acquisition costs for tents and a grill as well as the renovation and new installation of the ventilation system in the Schützenheim.

"We now want to continue this momentum," said Stanner.

The shooting operation itself was dormant for a long time, but this did not detract from the number of members.

According to Stanner, with 271 members, 91 of whom are women, the club has the highest level since it was founded in 1875. The shooting champion is particularly pleased that young people in particular are interested in this sport Average age is 44 years.

It certainly also contributes to the fact that there is a small group of archers who have been meeting regularly since summer 2021.

This year sporting competitions, but also midsummer celebrations and village festivals

The Diana shooters have a lot planned for the coming months.

The schedule not only includes sporting competitions such as Florian's shooting, a summer biathlon and community shooting, but also the midsummer celebrations at the end of June, a village festival and the thermal insulation of the large storage room.

Even after the elections, the management of the club has the tried and tested top in its hands, albeit with a change.

The previous 2nd rifle champion Thomas Seidl no longer competed after nine years, but remains on the club committee.

Michael Gerster was unanimously elected to take his place.

Stanner was confirmed as 1. Schützenmeister, Hirschmann as treasurer and Huber as secretary as well as Markus Seidl as sports director.

The Annual General Meeting was also used to catch up on numerous honors from the past two years.

The awards were presented by the 3rd Gauschützenmeister Manfred Dollmann.

In addition, Franz Schleibinger, Hubert Stettner and Franz Rott senior were made honorary members (report follows).
