According to the documents of the Kwai Tsing District Council, the Kwai Chung Outline Zoning Plan is being revised according to the plan to build a columbarium on a site at the former site of the Kwai Chung Incinerator, Yu Street, Kwai Tsing District.

If funding is successfully obtained, the project will be carried out in the form of a Design and Build Contract.

The project initially plans to build a 5-storey columbarium building with a roof and other related ancillary facilities with a site area of ​​about 14,000 square meters. By then, the building will provide treasure facilities and 68,500 columbarium niches, and the ground will have a lobby and office buildings facility.

According to reports, the Architectural Services Department will make full use of the natural topography of the Kwai Yu Street site, through garden and architectural design, to integrate the appearance of the columbarium with the surrounding environment and scenery, and use plants and trees as barriers, such as the roof for greening, Appropriate vertical greening and other landscaping facilities are also provided in appropriate locations to minimize the visual and psychological impact that may be caused by the columbarium, and to achieve the effect of environmental protection and aesthetics.
