The Puy du Fou teams will support the creation of a show in the United States

"inspired by the history of the Cherokee people"

, announced the Vendée amusement park in a press release published on Friday.

“We are going to put our know-how at the service of a spectacular, grandiose staging, which celebrates the painful and glorious history of the Cherokee people,”

Nicolas de Villiers, president of Puy du Fou, told AFP.

Scheduled for 2024, the show will be staged in the state of Tennessee, cradle of the Cherokees, within the Great Smoky Mountains National Park.

The collaboration was initiated by Cherokee representatives, who are making an investment of

“several tens of millions of dollars”

, specifies Nicolas de Villiers.

The dialogue had opened

and resulted in the signing of an agreement on Thursday.

The show will stage

"the story of the Cherokees who, in 1917, voluntarily entered the First World War, as a cry of love to America"

, detailed Mr. de Villiers.

Spectators will follow, through an immersive performance, the journey of a young Cherokee man, from the Appalachians to the battlefields of Champagne.

Puy du Fou continues its international development with this new show.

It has already supported the creation of performances in the Netherlands and Great Britain, and in 2021 opened its first foreign park in Spain.

The president of the park was delighted to pose with this new representation a

“first small light on the ground of the United States”

, he confided, before specifying that

“French teams must be sent very quickly on the spot to set up the project.

On stage, the actors will be Americans and

“as a priority”

Cherokees.

“Our artistic model is universal, it transcends languages and cultures”

, underlined Mr. de Villiers.

Popular with the public, the Vendée park welcomed 2.3 million visitors in 2019, before the Covid-19 health crisis.
