Moscow-Sana

The Russian Interior Ministry announced today the arrest of six neo-Nazi terrorists in the Rostov region in southern Russia.

"Officers of the Department's Counter-Terrorism Center and in combination with the regional branch of the Russian Federal Security Service were able to stop the activities of an extremist group," TASS news agency quoted the Rostov administration in the Ministry of the Interior as saying in a statement, noting that "members of this group and its organizers follow the tactics of a terrorist organization banned in Russia. Their websites and online platforms are operated by government organizations controlled by the military and political leadership of Ukraine.”

According to the administration’s statement, this group carried out its first extremist action in the Russian city of Shakhty in October 2021, during which it destroyed a World War II memorial and a mass grave in the city. In addition, the group carried out a number of ethnically motivated attacks in the cities of Novocherkassk and Rostov-on without causing many casualties.

The statement explained that these mercenaries filmed videos of their illegal actions and posted them on social networks with the aim of recruiting more elements. They also published information related to neo-Nazi ideas to promote them, in addition to disseminating German Nazi slogans.

The statement indicated that during the search of the apartments of these detainees, firearms, sights and steel batons were confiscated, in addition to cell phones and information storage devices they were using in their operations.

The office of the Russian Federal Security Service in the Rostov region announced earlier this week the arrest of a group of young men on charges of crimes inspired by neo-Nazi ideas.
