Without Florian Drechsler, Hermann M. would probably no longer be alive.
The Brucker taxi driver got the pensioner's heart beating again with a pressure massage.
Fürstenfeldbruck – At first it seems to be a normal working day for Florian Drechsler.
As usual, Hermann M. (83) wants his regular chauffeur to drive him to the dialysis center in Emmering three times a week.
Punctually as agreed at 12.50 p.m., the taxi driver is also on this rainy Friday afternoon in front of the pensioner's front door on the south-western outskirts of Fürstenfeldbruck.
His wife Lieselotte (82) accompanies him to the car and waits until Drechsler has stowed the walker in the trunk.
Taxi drivers from Fürstenfeldbruck save pensioners' lives: Brucker swallows his tongue
The taxi driver is just about to pull away when the 83-year-old groans and clutches his chest and collapses in his seat.
Drechsler grasps the situation immediately, stops abruptly and dials the emergency number 112 on his mobile phone.
At the same time, the frightened wife rushes over.
Together they pull the patient out of the car and put him on the street.
Herrmann M. threatens to suffocate, his wife pulls the tongue she has swallowed out of her throat.
"His face was already turning blue," remembers Drechsler, who is still in direct contact with the rescue control center.
Taxi drivers are instructed by the emergency services: There are guidelines for this
At the other end of the line, Sabine K.'s (33) shift was almost over when she answered Florian Drechsler's call.
For such cases, the rescue control center has guidelines on how emergency workers can deal with the situation without much prior knowledge.
"I too was afraid of doing something wrong," says the taxi driver.
"It's been a number of years since my last first aid course."

But Drechsler does everything right, turns on the cell phone speaker and starts the cardiac massage.
Sabine K., who has been employed in the rescue control center for twelve years, sets the rhythm on the phone.
"On her cell phone, she counted down the seconds before I had to press it," the taxi driver recalls.
For Sabine K. it was not an everyday situation either.
"But it's always fascinating how many people allow themselves to be encouraged to rescue despite the uncertainty."

When the pensioner just regains consciousness, the emergency doctor arrives with an ambulance and takes over the further rescue of life.
The police and fire brigade also rush to the scene of the accident.
Drechsler's job is done.
"I couldn't take it anymore, my whole body was shaking." Although he broke two of the pensioner's ribs with the cardiac massage, that's rather irrelevant.
The emergency doctor confirms to the colleague in the rescue control center that "the rescuer did his job perfectly".
Herrmann M. is taken to the hospital and treated there for eight days.
He's now back home and full of gratitude: "If it hadn't been for Florian Drechsler, I wouldn't have survived."
