“When death becomes life for the sake of dignity and the preservation of land and honor, life becomes less and martyrdom becomes a requirement for those with will and determination, and when victory is complete, the pain and pain of separation vanishes.”

This is how Fadi Al-Saleh describes the story of the martyrdom of his father, Ali Mazyad Al-Saleh, on a national mission in 1976 in Quneitra, which his children and grandchildren followed in defense of the homeland against the terrorist war on Syria.

The family of the martyr Ali Mazyad al-Saleh, from the village of Harfa (the mother of the martyrs), as described by the residents of the southwestern countryside of Damascus, presented six martyrs from fathers, sons and grandchildren.

Fadi, who was young when his father was martyred, says, “My mother took responsibility for our family of seven children and completed the mission.” I studied with my brother Youssef at the Sons of Martyrs School, and after high school, Youssef joined the Military College, progressing from the military rank to the rank of colonel.

Regarding the circumstances of his brother’s martyrdom, Fadi explains that in 2013, during a battle against terrorist organizations near Homs-Damascus Road, the martyr Brigadier General Sharaf Yousef rose to the heights, joining his comrades who sacrificed their lives for the sake of the homeland.

In words exuding honor, loftiness and pride, Sheikh Hamad Ali Al-Saleh, the son of the martyr and the father of three martyrs, describes the martyrs as the eternal torches of light that illuminate the path of life for a better future. He says, “Words are unable to describe my feelings. My brother, the martyr Nabil Mursal Al-Saleh, and my nephew Turki Salman Wahbi, as well as my brother, the martyr Brigadier General Sharaf Yousef Al-Saleh.”

Wafaa Zaidan, the wife of the martyr Youssef, says, “We are the sons of this land that is equal to the soul.. We were raised to love it, defend the homeland, and provide the most precious in order to live with dignity and honor.” She added, “After years of losing contact with my husband during his mission in Homs, I did not lose hope in life. I raised my children and taught them to fulfill their father’s wish that they would have university degrees.”

Ali Al-Saleh, the son of the martyr, Brigadier General Sharaf Yousef, expresses his pride in his father’s testimony, adding, “The martyrdom of my father, Wissam Ezz, my pride, and my inspiration in completing his mission in this life.”

And about the responsibility that was completed in fulfillment of the souls of the martyrs, between Mursal Ali Al-Saleh, the father of the martyr Nabil, that “my son was martyred in 2012 and in the following year his wife, Muntaha, the daughter of my brother Hamad Al-Saleh, rose and carried the trust of raising children and educating them to love their land and homeland.”

Shadi, whose parents were martyred, was brought up in the martyrdom school. He never stopped earnest and persevere, saying, “I will complete my father’s message with work and knowledge to confront the dark thoughts and rebuild a new, bright and secure Syria.”
