The Security Council expresses its support for Guterres' efforts to resolve the Ukraine crisis

The United Nations Security Council, in a statement issued unanimously by its members today, expressed its support for the efforts of the United Nations to resolve the Ukrainian crisis.

The TASS news agency reported that the Security Council expressed in the statement its "concern about ways to maintain peace and security in Ukraine," stressing "its support for the efforts of United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres to resolve the Ukrainian crisis."

For his part, Guterres welcomed the statement and said, "Today, for the first time, the Security Council spoke with one voice in support of peace in Ukraine," noting his intention to continue efforts "to search for ways to achieve peace."

It is noteworthy that this is the first unanimous statement issued by the UN Security Council on the situation in Ukraine since the launch of the Russian special military operation to protect the residents of Donbass.
