Gerhard Polt can be congratulated this Saturday: The Schliersee cabaret artist is 80 years old.

– If your own name works as a kind of encyclopedia, then you have obviously made a lasting impression as an artist.

The cabaret artist Gerhard Polt (“The Great Polt”) is such an artist.

This Saturday the Schlierseer can be congratulated on his 80th birthday.

As an artist, Polt knows no retirement.

Next week he will be on the road again with the Biermösl-Blosn, Heilbronn, Heidelberg, Frankfurt, Würzburg.

As a person, the Schlierseer only comes to the fore when doing good or drawing attention to something important - most recently, for example, when he helped organize a large peace rally.

Gerhard Polt doesn't have much in common with his blustering stage figures, reveals former ski star Markus Wasmeier.

"Simply bearish," says Markus Wasmeier

"Such a brilliant person, who has the ability to observe and implement things in this way, who is also a philosopher, not everyone has someone as a neighbor - but I do," says Wasmeier.

"We have been closely connected since he has lived in Schliersee and every encounter is a pleasure.

He is thoughtful and cosmopolitan.

Just the languages ​​and dialects he speaks is remarkable.

He doesn't want to be that present in town, but he does a lot in the background.

It's amazing what he and his wife Tini can do.

This family is unique.

It's a gift to be able to call someone like that a friend - simply bearish."

The Polt couple are among the driving constants in cultural life

In Schliersee's cultural life, Tini and Gerhard Polt are among the driving constants - as well as conductor and pianist Timm Tzschaschel, who also recently celebrated his 80th birthday and whose wife Bettina also has the same birthday as Gerhard Polt.

“He is always present at the Kulturherbst.

Not so much as a cabaret artist, as he became famous, but with a political and musical mind,” says Tzschaschel, referring to Polt’s exciting “Schliersee Talks” with the diplomat Markus Ederer at the Kulturherbst.

"A lot of artists come here through his network."

His scenes are burned into my memory

Many of Gerhard Polt's scenes and sketches have entered the collective memory - mail order bride Mai Ling on the sofa, the father who freaks out on the tennis court, the pedant who loses his composure and facade in front of a childlike "Santa Claus".

Fans can recite his roles by heart, such as Anschi Hacklinger, musician from Weyarn: "I've known Gerhard Polt since I was a child, we can join in many of his sketches.

My childhood friend and I used to throw 'Nikolausi' and 'Easter Bunny' at each other.

In this respect, he has been with me my whole life, even if he doesn't even know me.

Gerhard Polt is a unicum that runs through his style, very individual.
