In Dortmund, an 18-year-old broke into the fire department and stole a fire engine.
He drove through the city with flashing lights and sirens - until he could be stopped.
Dortmund – An 18-year-old from Dortmund allowed himself a very special jaunt on Saturday morning.
The young man broke into the equipment house of the volunteer fire brigade in Dortmund-Berghofen and stole a fire engine and a fire brigade uniform there, as reported

The 18-year-old then drove the fire truck through Dortmund and Holzwickede – “among other things with the blue lights and siren on”, according to the fire brigade and police.

Firefighters noticed the theft around 7 a.m. Saturday morning.
Shortly thereafter, there were already several references from witnesses who had seen the fire engine in the city area.
The police and fire brigade immediately launched a search.
A helicopter was also used.
After that, the fire engine was seen several times by emergency services from other volunteer fire departments, who repeatedly informed the police of the current location.
"Two forces from the Berghofen fire-fighting train finally sighted 'their' vehicle at around 8.40 a.m. on the federal highway 236 between the Berghofen tunnel and the Freischütz," it continues.
Together with the police, the firefighters were finally able to stop the car after the wild ride.

The 18-year-old was immediately arrested.
Apparently he was drugged while driving, as a corresponding preliminary test showed.
But not only that: the man is already known to the police.
The police said the 18-year-old was already being investigated for various crimes.
After all: According to initial findings, he should not have caused any damage during his jaunt in the fire engine.
