Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune stressed that the massacres committed by the French forces on May 8, 1945 in a number of Algerian cities are hideous and cannot be forgotten and will remain engraved with their horrific tragedies in the national memory and historical reference.
The Algerian News Agency quoted Tebboune as saying in a message he addressed to the Algerian people on the occasion of the commemoration of the National Day of Memory in memory of the massacres of May 8, 1945 that the atrocities that Sétif, Guelma, Kharrata and other cities witnessed on May 8, 1945 will continue to bear witness to heinous massacres that cannot be forgotten. Rather, it will remain engraved with its horrific tragedies in the national memory and in the historical reference for which the struggle of our proud people against the oppression of colonialism and the yearning for freedom and dignity through popular resistance was founded and directed by the blessed liberation revolution on the first of November 1954.
Tebboune pointed out that the truest expression of loyalty to the homeland on this anniversary is manifested in closing ranks to address the economic and social conditions with the required effectiveness and speed and to interact with the outside world and what is produced by the successive tensions and fluctuations in a cohesive internal front that enhances Algeria’s position and position in the context of emerging balances in the world and thwarts the intentions of provocation and hostile fallacies Which will not discourage Algeria from the major choices and strategic directions.
