At least two dead and seven injured after armed attacks in Cancun

At least two dead and seven injured was the balance left this Friday by a couple of armed attacks in a bar area in Cancun, Quintana Roo, reported the State Attorney General's Office.

Shortly after, a suspect was arrested in connection with one of the attacks that occurred on an avenue lined with restaurants and bars.

Meanwhile, local media reported

on the same avenue in a bar called "Las de la Kabah", which left one dead and one injured.

In videos broadcast on social networks, residents can be seen taking shelter from the shooting.

Security authorities activated the red code and established a strong operation in the area to locate the alleged perpetrators.

Another of the most notorious cases was the murder of the Argentine Federico Mazzoni, manager of the Mamitas Beach Club in Playa del Carmen, as revenge for a criminal group that wanted to manage the sale of drugs in the area.

In late October, further south in the city of Tulum, two tourists — an Indian-born California travel blogger and a German — were caught in an apparent crossfire by rival drug traffickers and killed.
