Three Americans died of unclear causes Friday at the Sandals Resort on the Great Exodus Island in the Bahamas, officials said.

Two men and a woman died at the site, and a fourth American woman was flown to a hospital in Nassau, the capital of the Bahamas, Prime Minister Chester Cooper said on Friday.

Although police are still investigating, Cooper was told "apparently this is not a criminal offense," he added.

Cooper did not say the name of the site, Al Sandals Resorts, which operates more than a dozen all-inclusive centers, announced that three guests died Friday at the Emerald Bay Sandals site on the great island of Eczema.

The details are unclear

Sandals did not mention a fourth person hospitalized.

Details about what led to the deaths, why a fourth American was taken to a hospital, whether she was at the resort as well, her condition and the names of those involved were not provided.

"A medical emergency was initially reported, and in accordance with our instructions we immediately called the relevant emergency services and local authorities," Sandals Resorts said in a statement to CNN tonight (Saturday).

The company also said it was working to "support the investigation and the families of the guests in any way possible", but could not disclose additional information, "out of respect for the privacy of our guests".

The Prime Minister asked the Minister of Health and Welfare to lead a delegation of health, environment and public works experts to the eczema.

"The public will get the information as soon as possible," said Cooper, who also serves as the Bahamas' tourism minister.
