The hours of electricity supply to subscribers in Al-Hasakah governorate recently decreased as a result of the decrease in the quantities of electricity coming to the governorate from the Tabqa Dam in the Raqqa countryside, which resulted from the Turkish regime’s encroachments on Syria’s share of the Euphrates River water.

And the Director General of the Electricity Company, Eng. Anwar Okla, said in a statement to SANA reporter that “the quantities of electricity coming from the dam have recently decreased from 50/60 megawatt-hours to about 25/30/ megawatt-hour, which led to a decrease in the hours of electrical supply in various parts of the province and the feeding was limited to two hours during the middle of the night every day.”

Okla indicated that "the reasons for the decrease in the quantities of electricity coming from the Tabqa dam to the governorate are due to the decrease in the operating hours of the power plants on the dam due to the significant drop in the water level in it due to the thefts by the Turks of the Euphrates River and the low flow rate in it to the minimum limits."

It is noteworthy that Al-Hasakah Governorate depends, in addition to the electricity that is supplied from the Tabqa Dam, on what is produced by the Suwayda power plant in the countryside of the governorate, which allocates a large part of what it produces to service institutions, hospitals, mills, bakeries and water.

The Turkish regime continues to rob the waters of the Euphrates River by seizing most of the water that is supposed to flow into the river inside Syrian territory, which represents a described crime that leads to the stopping of the electricity generation turbines in the Euphrates Dam and the drop in the water level, which threatens an environmental and humanitarian catastrophe.
