Sources who spoke with the Lebanese Al-Mayadin channel said that Hamas threatened that a return to targeted assassination policies would mean a return to bloody attacks inside Israel and that the organizations would "burn the center cities and land hard rocket fire on the Gush Dan and Tel Aviv areas, more than the enemy can imagine."
It was also reported that there have been recent contacts between Hamas and the mediators to stop the "aggression in al-Aqsa."
The Palestinian newspaper Al-Ayyam also reported today (Saturday) that senior Egyptian intelligence officials are making intensive contacts to reach understandings that will be acceptable to Israel and the Palestinian organizations around security tensions and preventing escalation on the ground.

The newspaper reported from its sources that the Egyptians presented the understandings to both the Israeli and Palestinian sides, even before the attack on Elad.
The understandings include stopping the Israeli "invasions" of al-Aqsa or reducing them to the minimum possible, opening the crossings in the Gaza Strip, and stopping the latest punitive measures.
In return, Palestinian organizations will pledge not to launch rockets from the Gaza Strip at Israel and return the situation to what it was before the beginning of Ramadan.
It was also reported that some of the issues had not yet been agreed, for example regarding the Israeli demand to stop the attacks in Judea and Samaria and in Israel.
The organizations responded that "what is happening in the West Bank and in Israel is mostly individual actions, and a response to Israel's crimes, and that this cannot be resisted as long as the occupation continues in the killings, arrests and settlements."
The source stated that the attack in Elad could delay the arrival of these understandings.
Referring to threats to assassinate senior Hamas figures, it was noted that factions in Gaza had informed mediators that harming the organization's symbols and leaders would ignite a war that would not be limited to the Gaza Strip but extended to other arenas.
