Taxi crashes into a police car – six injured in a serious accident in Cologne

Cologne News: There were six injured late Friday evening in a serious accident in Cologne-Sülz.

A taxi crashed into a police car.

Cologne – In a serious accident on Friday evening (May 6th), a police patrol car and a taxi collided in Cologne-Sülz.

The police car was apparently on its way to an operation when the taxi crashed into the side of the patrol car.

Six people were injured in the collision, as reported

The accident happened shortly before 11 p.m. at the intersection of Universitätsstrasse and Luxemburger Strasse.

A police spokesman said that the officers in the police car were actually on their way to an operation.

They were previously called to a brawl.

At the intersection, flashing blue lights and sirens, they turned left when a taxi came toward them.

The taxi driver was probably not able to brake in time and crashed sideways into the patrol car.

The force of the impact caused the police car to roll over and land on its roof.

Accident in Cologne-Sülz: Six injured after a crash between a patrol car and a taxi

A 27-year-old policewoman and a 24-year-old policeman and the four occupants of the taxi were injured in the accident.

All six injured were taken to hospitals.

The two police officers have since been released from the hospital.

The police spokesman said the police could not yet provide any information on the severity of the injuries to the other four people.

The exact cause of the accident is not yet clear and is now being investigated.

There was a second serious accident in Cologne on Friday evening.

In the Deutz district, a 29-year-old woman apparently drove an illegal race in an Audi R8.

She lost control and the Audi crashed through a fence behind train tracks.
