The daily number of confirmed cases in Hong Kong remains at three digits. The government said today (7th) that as sewage samples from a total of eight housing estates in Shatin and Southern District were positive, it was suspected that there might be hidden patients, and it had contacted the people involved. A total of 125,000 rapid antigen test kits were distributed by local residents, cleaners and property management personnel for their own testing to help identify infected persons.
The Environmental Protection Department and the Drainage Services Department are collecting sewage samples for coronavirus testing in various districts, and positive results have been detected in some districts, indicating that there may be hidden patients on premises in the districts, including:
Shatin District: Yan On Estate, Ka Wah Xing Tao Wan, Tian Yu Hai, Hoi Dian Wan, Sun Tsui Estate, San Tin Estate and Ge Tin Estate
Southern District: Tin Wan Village
The government reminds the public that when using the quick test kits, they should pay attention to and follow the manufacturer's instructions, conduct the test and read the results correctly, and take pictures immediately after reading the results for record.
Hands must be clean before and after the test, and non-essential supplies should be kept to a minimum in the sample collection area.
After testing, all components of the test kit need to be carefully wrapped, sealed and disposed of properly.
If the household environment is contaminated during sample collection, it should be disinfected with 1:49 diluted household bleach or 70% alcohol.
Persons who have obtained a positive result for the first time with the rapid antigen test can declare through the online platform of the "2019 Coronavirus Rapid Antigen Test Positive Results Person Declaration System".
If members of the public have difficulty using the online platform, they can call the automated system at 183 6119 to register their identity documents and telephone numbers.
The Centre for Health Protection of the Department of Health will contact the person concerned to complete the declaration process.
