Coalition mines: these are the Knesset's ticking bombs Israel today

2022-05-08T20:46:58.844Z

Defense Minister Bnei Gantz wants to be prime minister and works against ultra-Orthodox and right-wing circles • MK Ghanaim said he is "one foot out of government" • MK Auerbach disappointed with losing his party's right path • Ahead of summer session in any case

The summer conference opened today in the Knesset of Israel after a tense break, including the resignation of MK Idit Silman from the coalition and the declaration of MK Amichai Shikli as retiring.

In addition, the security reality is putting pressure on the public to dismantle the coalition that relies on Arab parties.

When the session opened, we examined who the Knesset members might be who put the faltering coalition in jeopardy.

Walid Taha and Ghanaian Balance

The most significant danger to the existence of the coalition and the biggest headache of Ra'am chairman Mansour Abbas are MKs Walid Taha and Mazen Ghanaim.

Ghanaim says in closed-door talks that he is "one foot out of government."

He recently sent a letter to Prime Minister Naftali Bennett, in which he wrote that "if the security forces' activity in the al-Aqsa Mosque is not stopped immediately - I see myself outside the coalition."

"Seeing myself outside."

"Not optimistic."

Taha was also furious at the riots on the Temple Mount and said he was "not optimistic about the continued existence of the government".

Following the events, RAAM even announced that it was "freezing its membership in the coalition."

Ghanaian is described by his comrades as having no interest in the coalition, and all he wants is to occupy the Sakhnin mayoralty.

Taha is defined as an "uninhibited thug" and "unpredictable."

The two members do not "count" Abbas, who is very interested in continuing the government's path.

However, the coalition leaders make two promises that are important to them.

As mentioned, Ghanaim is interested in running for mayor of Sakhnin and promises him budgets.

Taha boasts of achievements like the Electricity Act and the cessation of plantings, and was told that only through a partnership in the coalition could he continue to bring about similar achievements.

Orbach, Kara and Shaked

Their coalition members call them the "what's trio."

Although the three have formed a unified block spring, it is estimated that a planned move by the three is not expected, and if a case of retirement occurs, it may be individually.

The most prominent is MK Nir Orbach, who is under very heavy pressure from home.

Will seek economic achievement.

Interior Minister Ayelet Shaked is trying to maintain her right-wing image and a step of retirement may achieve the goal, while MK Avir Kara is busy with economic matters, and if he fails to promote them he will be pressured to leave.

At the same time, when the threat of dissolving the government hovers, Auerbach will work to present right-wing achievements such as the layout of the dormitories, connecting the young settlement to electricity and more.

Kara will also try to achieve economic achievements like compensation for the self-employed.

Also, Shaked could retire to this day, but did not.

The connection to Bennett and other political considerations prevented this.

In addition, the three estimate that even if the government disintegrates, it is not possible to form an alternative right-wing government at present.

Bnei Gantz

Defense Minister Bnei Gantz does not share the idyll among the party leaders.

He is in conflict with Ministers Lapid and Michaeli and sees himself as the one who deserves the prime minister, and not for Bennett with his own low number of seats.

Ganz wants to be prime minister, and is already working with the ultra-Orthodox and right-wing circles.

Ganz can find a sophisticated way to dissolve the government without being accused of disbanding.

It is enough for him to announce "right-wing" security measures to bring the PM or the left-wing parties to the edge, or to announce the evacuation of Chumash or a complete freeze on construction in Judea and Samaria, to bring the right-wing parties to the edge and dissolve the Knesset.

"Not an idyllic partner."

However, voters from the center and left circles of blue and white may be angry with Ganz if he dismantles the government, and causes Netanyahu to return.

In closed talks, Ganz says that he sees Netanyahu as harming Israel, and will not give him the opportunity to return to the prime minister's office.

Wolf Elkin

Minister Elkin is considered the most sophisticated and "dangerous" politician in Israel.

MKs who have worked with him for many years say he knows how to "find the next wheel for himself."

"Dangerous politician."

As you may recall, Elkin was a Likud member, then moved to Kadima, then returned to the Likud and left for new hope.

His party's situation is very bad in the polls, and it does not pass the blocking percentage.

Sources in the political system estimate that if a surprise occurs, they will not be surprised if it comes from Elkin's direction.

At the same time, it is highly doubtful whether he can find the "next wheel" in the political system outside the New Hope party.
