Munich – In the last federal election, the CDU suffered a severe defeat.
Without Angela Merkel, the German People's Party gave up its government position to the traffic light coalition and has to reorganize itself.

There could be a good chance for this in the state elections in Schleswig-Holstein.
Prime Minister Daniel Günther has had a quiet term in office, has not caused any scandals and, according to current polls, can be optimistic about election day on May 8th.

Election in Schleswig-Holstein 2022: SPD loses percentage in the polls
While the CDU and SPD were still very close together in the
INSA
poll of March 29, the most recent poll of April 21 by
Infratest dimap paints
a different picture.
In the said survey, the CDU was able to increase significantly and comes to 38 percent, while the SPD is losing a lot of ground and is only at 20 percent.
The Social Democrats would have to cope with a minus of 7.3 percentage points compared to the last state election in 2017 - the CDU should be happy about a plus of six percentage points.
However, these surveys only reflect the current mood and only indicate a trend.
According to polls, the Greens took third place in the Schleswig-Holstein state elections behind the CDU and SPD with 16 percent.
This would correspond to an increase of just over three percentage points compared to the last state election.
The FDP is sticking around the ten percent mark with fluctuating values and the AfD would just make it into the state parliament with six to seven percent.
Unlike the left, which is below the 5 percent hurdle, just like the South Schleswig Voters' Association (SSW) with four percent.

State elections in Schleswig-Holstein 2022: surveys with limited significance
As interesting as the gimmicks with survey values and forecasts may be, they do not have much influence or meaningfulness on the result.
There may still be a few developments before May 8, especially during the war in Ukraine, parties or candidates could shoot themselves out with ill-considered statements.
A few weeks and days before election day, when the top candidates are also increasingly appearing on television and the broader media, the poll values may turn around again or solidify.
