According to the latest surveys, the forecasts for the election in Schleswig-Holstein 2022 seem to be confirmed.

As the dpa reports, the CDU has a clear lead.

In the state elections in the north, the Union is currently expected to get 36 to 38 percent of the votes.

Pollsters identified the SPD as the second strongest party with 19 to 20 percent, followed by the Greens with 16 to 17 percent.

The FDP is currently around seven to nine percent and the AfD five to six percent.

The South Schleswig Voters' Association (SSW) is exempt from the 5 percent hurdle and, according to surveys, should receive around four to five percent of the votes.

The state elections in Schleswig-Holstein have started – the polling stations for the around 2.3 million people who are eligible to vote have been open since 8 a.m.

According to current polls, the CDU with Prime Minister Daniel Günther is clearly ahead.

This is followed by the SPD and the Greens.

Günther announced that he would cast a vote in Eckernförde in the morning, SPD top candidate Thomas Losse-Müller in Bistensee and Finance Minister Monika Heinold as the top candidate of the Greens in Kiel.

Around 6 p.m., shortly after the polling stations close, there should be a first forecast of the outcome of the election.
