The moving stage should have amazed the audience at the "Eurovision Song Contest" in Turin, but shortly before the first ESC semi-final there were problems: A technical defect now ruins the highlight.
The candidates must now spontaneously reschedule.
Turin - For the "Eurovision Song Contest" (the ESC final on TV and live stream), something very special was thought of in Turin: The ESC stage, consisting of several, with spotlights on one side and LED diodes on the other side equipped arches, should have been the unforgettable highlight of the evening.
But the construction intended as a kinetic sun is now on strike - and that has consequences!
Stage problems just before the "Eurovision Song Contest" - technical breakdown hinders the ESC process
For their show, the "Eurovision Song Contest" candidates (all participants at a glance) had access to the elaborately assembled stage, which either threw bright light into the audience or - if the arches were rotated - formed a huge LED screen.
However, unexpected complications arose in terms of functionality, which hinder the planned course of the ESC.
As several portals, including
ESC compact
, report,
the stage lacks powerful motors that can move the moving arches back into position in good time before the next performance.
In order to avoid a total technical failure, the planning was changed.
This also affects the upcoming Eurovision performances.
"Eurovision Song Contest" participants have to reschedule - ESC stage not fully operational
The Italian broadcaster RAI decided that the LED wall attached to the back of the arches would no longer be used.
Instead, the stage should shine as a sun with numerous spotlights.
Countries that wanted to use the screen now have to reschedule their staging a few days before the first semi-final (May 10).
The technical faux pas has already been communicated to all participating nations.
It is not known whether the German ESC appearance is also affected.
Eurovision candidate Malik Harris was very cool recently – and shared his trick against the great excitement.
