Greens top candidate Monika Heinold was pleased with the good performance of her party in the state elections in Schleswig-Holstein.

“The people in the country want us to continue to be responsible for government.

We'll see if that happens," said Heinold on Sunday evening after the first forecasts were announced.

According to this, the Greens are likely to be the second strongest party, ahead of the SPD, with the CDU being the clear winner.

Kiel – The second Greens top candidate Aminata Touré said the party's joy was "incredible".

"If the AfD were kicked out, that would be great." dpa
