The President of the Russian Republic of Chechnya Ramzan Kadyrov announced that the Russian forces were able to control most of the city of Popasnaya in the Lugansk Republic and liberate the main streets and central areas.
"The fighters of the Chechen special forces managed to control most of the Popasnaya areas, and the main streets and central neighborhoods of the city were completely cleared," Kadyrov was quoted by the Russian RIA Novosti news agency as saying on his Telegram channel, considering that such a result is inevitable and it is only a matter of time.
Kadyrov also expressed his confidence that all the tasks set by Russian President Vladimir Putin will be accomplished and their goals achieved.
Kadyrov had announced yesterday that the city of Popasnaya is besieged and that 80 percent of it is under the control of the Russian armed forces.
