The Directorate of Water Resources in Al-Hasakah launched the sixth irrigation during the winter agricultural season from the Al-Shaheed Al-Basel Dam to water the agricultural crops located on the bed of the Khabur River to the administrative borders of Deir Ezzor Governorate.

And the Director of Water Resources, Engineer Abdul Aziz Amin, said in a statement to SANA reporter that in order to enhance the reality of the growth of agricultural crops such as wheat and barley, which are currently going through the sprouting phase, the current irrigation was launched to irrigate an area estimated at 12 thousand hectares.

Amin pointed out that the volume of water storage in the dam with the start of the irrigation system amounted to 132 million cubic meters, and it is expected that about 20 million cubic meters will be consumed during the current irrigation.

The reservoirs of the Al-Shaheed Al-Basel Dam have recently improved as a result of the flooding of the Khabour River, which flows into the dam's lake.
