Because a large number of Deutsche Post employees in the Garmisch-Partenkirchen district are currently on sick leave, there are restrictions.

District

– Georg Kramer last received mail eleven days ago.

Then it was over, from one day to the next.

At first he didn't notice it.

Only after the Garmisch-Partenkirchner waited in vain for several bills, when he knew for sure that they would come, did he become suspicious.

Many phone calls to customer service didn't shed any light on the matter.

It was only when he spoke to an acquaintance who works in the Post's sphere of activity that he was able to unravel the secret: According to reports, more than 33 Deutsche Post employees in the district are on sick leave.

The letters and parcels are literally piling up in the post offices.

Garmisch-Partenkirchen district: Deutsche Post is hit by a wave of illnesses

Many district residents are currently feeling the same way as Kramer.

In Garmisch-Partenkirchen and in Farchant, letters and parcels have not been delivered for at least almost two weeks.

The reason: The Deutsche Post DHL Group has been hit by a veritable wave of illnesses in the district, as company spokesman Dieter Nawrath said when asked by the daily newspaper.

"Unfortunately, we cannot fully compensate for the high level of sick leave," Nawrath said.

However, the company reports that the corona virus should not be responsible for the failure.

Nawrath asks his customers for their understanding and promises to deliver letters, parcels and parcels "as quickly as possible in order to keep the delays as short as possible".

No post in the district of Garmisch-Partenkirchen: Lack of staff is also a problem

For people like Kramer, who are self-employed in addition to being employed, this is an extremely unfavorable situation.

After all, you only have a few weeks to settle many bills.

"If it's not delivered on Saturday and the mail doesn't come until Monday, that's not a problem," he says.

But if letters are not delivered for two weeks, dunning fees could come to the citizens through no fault of their own.

But the postal company promises to get the problem under control by tomorrow, Wednesday at the latest.

"Then everything should be back to normal."

Deutsche Post seems to be suffering from a lack of staff.

She is currently desperately looking for new employees.

The employees are introduced to the work according to defined training concepts.

“We look forward to every application,” says Nawarth.

Of course, also to quickly get delivery problems under control, as is currently the case.
