Today, the Russian Investigative Committee opened an investigation into the vandalism of a monument to Soviet soldiers in Tartu, Estonia.
Russia Today website quoted the head of the Russian Investigative Committee, Alexander Bastrykin, as saying in a statement today that "saboteurs targeted a monument to the Soviet warriors who fell in the liberation of Tartu from Nazi forces in Estonia during World War II and wrote obscene words on it."
Bastrykin issued instructions to initiate an investigation into the accident.
Last April, the Russian Investigative Committee opened an investigation into five criminal cases of desecration of monuments to Soviet soldiers in Estonia, Bulgaria and Lithuania.
