The city starts with the expansion of the pedestrian zone.

The renovation of the Viktualienmarkt has also cleared another hurdle.

Munich - Munich's pedestrian zone continues to grow.

On Monday, the building department will start work on the lion's den.

To this end, the roadway between Hartmannstraße and Karmeliterstraße will first be renovated.

Between 9 May and probably mid-June, the Löwengrube section will be one-way in the east direction.

The Löwengrube will probably be completely closed to through traffic from June 7th to 10th for the asphalting work.

The Löwengrube between Augustinerstrasse and Hartmannstrasse will then become a one-way street in the east direction because the pedestrian zone will be established.

For the city it is the next step in the redesign around Frauenplatz, Augustinerstraße and Löwengrube.

"A special place is being created around the Frauenkirche, which invites you to stroll and linger," says SPD City Councilor Klaus Peter Rupp.

"Together with the redesign of Frauenplatz, the enlarged pedestrian zone will significantly upgrade our old town."

More quality of stay will not only please Munich residents and tourists.

Business people and restaurants also benefited from this.

"It's great that the pedestrian zone is being expanded, especially now for its milestone birthday," says Green Party boss Florian Roth.

For the heart of Munich, this is now an important step towards more quality of stay.

"We'll also be happy if the next example follows with Westenriederstrasse."

Construction would probably start in 2025. “No excavator will be rolling before then.
