Born in a London bar ten years ago, the concept quickly spread across the world.
"It's a small thing in each city but if we combine all the meetings, that makes it the biggest festival of popular science", explains Julien Guillard, coordinator for Reims (Marne) of the "Pint of science" festival which takes place simultaneously from May 9 to 11 in 34 cities in France.
The young man, at 27, is himself a researcher in biology.
In March, he participated in the My Thesis in 180 seconds competition, highlighting his research work on liver disease.
"I'm going to save your aperitifs by keeping the foie gras not in your body, but on your toast," he concluded, detailing his way of slicing pieces of liver as thinly as a sausage.
“If I fail to become a researcher, I could always be a bartender,” he joked again, a follower of popularization for the general public.
Suffice to say that the organization of this festival, in a café, was predestined to him.
So here he is relaunching, with a group of friends, the three themed evenings of the science festival.
“It's important for the public to understand what researchers are working on, especially in the context of a pandemic where we've seen a lot of misinformation.
In addition, we are financed by public money… It's always good to know where the taxes go.

Oysters, gastroenteritis and wine cosmetics
Two or three speakers will therefore follow each evening.
The first meeting, entitled "Balance your virus" this Monday, May 9, will thus feature Romain Rivet around the oysters responsible for gastroenteritis, then Arnaud Pommier around the body's immune army.
“Behind this warrior vocabulary, is everything so simple?
he will ask, right in the news.
The next day, “the secret life of the vineyard” will take over around “genetics to save our aperitifs” and “wine compounds that make us happier”.
Finally, the third evening will be devoted to digital (artificial intelligence, automation and games of chance).
Julien Guillard will host the evening, made up of games, quizzes and goodies to be won.
Everything will take place in the bistro "Ma Bouteille s'appelle Revient", with compulsory registration and a capacity of around 40 people.
“The symbolic price is set at 2 euros, so that people who register really come.
As everyone is relaxed over a drink, it breaks down barriers for somewhat silly questions that we wouldn't dare ask at university… Anyone can participate and discuss with researchers.
The idea is not only to present a science subject but to understand what we do in the labs.
