The Realschule celebrates the inauguration of Christine Venus-Michel.

It turns out that the school doesn't do anything because that's how it's always been done.

Geretsried – At a ceremony, there is usually a lectern on the stage, where one guest of honor after another is holding the microphone.

The audience in the rows of chairs endure the speeches.

For the inauguration of Christine Venus-Michel as head of the secondary school, the school family provided a completely different picture.

That shows: The Realschule doesn't do anything because it's always been done that way.

She goes a different way and with conviction.

Even if the celebration in the auditorium has only just taken place, Venus-Michel has already taken on her new tasks in September (we reported).

When district administrator Josef Niedermaier received the message, he said on Thursday afternoon, he thought: "Wow, great." He had hoped for this for a long time - and from the point of view of the district as the school's material expenses, Venus-Michel and her deputy Markus Kugler were been the point of contact for a long time anyway.

The cooperation fits “professionally and personally”.

With her charm, Venus-Michel convinced those responsible in the district of a new learning concept, says Niedermaier.

The district administrator told the headmistress that there was a need for a culture of error ("harmony makes stupid") and that cohesion was important.

The secondary school fits the motto of the city of Geretsried, which he added with a word: "Simply different - good."

Realschule Geretsried: Learning islands instead of frontal teaching

The concept of the Realschule, learning islands instead of frontal teaching, was also reflected in the auditorium.

Only a small corner was equipped with classic rows of chairs.

Groups of tables were spread out in the forum, Niedermaier, Ministerial Commissioner Wilhelm Kurzeder, Headmistress Christine Venus-Michel and Mayor Michael Müller sat on a couch.

The classrooms in the Realschule are structured in a similar way.

In this way you can support the students individually, you are a team, explained the headmistress.

And "we can only work like this because the district made it possible," Venus-Michel expressed her thanks.

The head of the Geretsried town hall agreed.

In addition to investments and the building, it takes heart and commitment, emphasized Müller.

"I still feel like a high school student today," he said.

Education is more than knowledge.

You are shaped at school.

"It is an important task to make someone look back fondly on their school days," says Müller.

New learning models get praise: "I know you can"

Ministerial Commissioner Wilhelm Kurzder, i.e. the head of Venus-Michel, saw them well armed for this.

"It's a bit different," he says.

Not just because of her hairdo.

"She is unconventional, but extremely lovable." School is "infinitely important" to her.

Kurzer praised the decision to use the learning islands, which was largely down to Venus-Michel.

"Do school by all means, I know you can."

The fact that this school sticks together and is happy about its new captain was experienced by the small group of guests due to the pandemic at the individual program points, with which teachers and students surprised the main character of the afternoon.

"A show with surprise effects," said Vice Principal Kugler, who took over the moderation.

Marlis Krach and Gabriele Rau took the listener on a self-written fantasy journey to Venus-Michel's various projects.

A film showed how STEM subjects and art can harmonize.

And finally, a choir wrote poetry to the melody of "Veronika, der Lenz ist da": "Christine, your time is here."
