Rottach-Egern – The Rottach-Egern municipal council has now discussed a bike service station on Feldstraße.
One goal: to join the AGFK Bayern.
Rottach-Egern officially wants to become a bicycle-friendly municipality in the AGFK Bayern working group of the same name.
Therefore, in the most recent meeting of the municipal council, there was a discussion about building a bike service station at the Feldstraße leisure facility.
The area is currently being redesigned.
Mayor Christian Köck presented an all-in-one service station with e-bike charging station, automatic tube dispenser and repair station.
Depending on whether you want to use all three components or just one or two, the costs develop between 3,200 and 4,500 euros.
The charging station itself would cost around 1,700 euros.
As the subsequent discussion showed, opinions differed among the municipal councillors.
Concerns about the e-charging station
Georg Höß (FWG) found the proposal to be a fundamentally good idea to create a contact point for cyclists in the village.
"We'll have to see whether the hose machine is used," he said.
"I can imagine that." However, he had doubts as to whether cyclists would use the repair station.
"Those who can repair their bike on a tour have their tools with them," he found.
Anastasia Stadler (CSU) agreed with this opinion and argued that there were also specialist shops that could do on-site repairs.
"If we do that, I'm in favor of a small service station," said Stefan Niedermaier (Blitz).
He was in favor of installing the hose machine and the most important tools.
He had concerns about the e-charging station.
Josef Lang (CSU) also expressed doubts, since Feldstraße is not directly in the center and cyclists would have to get there first.
He cannot imagine that they would take the path themselves.
E-bike charging initially free of charge
There was also a brief discussion about whether cyclists have to pay for the electricity they use or whether they can use it for free.
Opinions differed on this as well.
In the end, the choice to initially offer the electricity free of charge prevailed.
A payment system could possibly be established afterwards.
Mayor Christian Köck and Managing Director Gerhard Hofmann appealed that they wanted to gain experience, since it would be the first such station in the community.
The decision to do so was unanimous.
