An investigation by the Ministry of Health at the Beit Dafna shelter in Holon, in which three patients died with symptoms of food poisoning, showed today (Sunday) that the level of cleanliness of the dishes was deficient, there was no strict separation of food in various cooking processes and that there were no proper work procedures. A control team from the Tel Aviv District Health Bureau arrived at the institution and found some serious deficiencies in the maintenance and level of cleanliness in the institution and the kitchen.

The test results showed that the illness among the tenants was due to an infection in the meat, which was caused by poor treatment of it.

33 residents fell ill as part of the food poisoning outbreak, nine were evacuated to hospital for treatment and six were hospitalized.

Three patients died, one at the institution and two at the hospital.

The report of the control team was forwarded to the Ministry of Welfare and the police.
