For his part, the coordinator of the popular committees to resist the wall and settlements south of Hebron, Ratib Jabour, revealed that the occupation aims to displace the people of the villages (Janba, Al-Marqaz, Al-Halawa, Al-Fakhit, Al-Tabban, Maghair Al-Ubaid, Safi Al-Foqa, Al-Tahta, Al-Tuba, Khallet Al-Dabaa and Al-Mafqara) to besiege Hebron with settlements and settlement roads, indicating that the occupation has been storming for decades The villages of Masafer Yatta are constantly attacked and the people are not spared, even the animals that they depend on to raise to secure their livelihood, in a desperate attempt to seize these villages.
Jabour explained that since the beginning of this year, the occupation has carried out more than 200 attacks on Masafer Yatta, bulldozing agricultural facilities and arresting dozens, pointing out that the people are controlling their steadfastness on their land a heroic epic, and that a series of events will be organized in the coming days to support them and emphasize the rejection of the Israeli plans of displacement and uprooting.
Persisting with the occupation in violating international legitimacy resolutions that affirm the illegality of settlements and demand their cessation, he announced plans to establish 4,000 new settlement units threatening to seize large areas of West Bank lands.
The coordinator of the Popular Committee to Resist the Wall and Settlement Salah Al-Khawaja explained that these units will be established in 26 settlements spread like a cancer in the West Bank, and will be linked by settlement roads to transform Palestinian villages and towns into isolated areas within the framework of the process of besieging the Palestinian presence within the fait accompli policy that the occupation seeks to impose on them. ground.
Al-Khawaja pointed out that the practices of the occupation in the West Bank are ethnic cleansing operations that herald a new catastrophe through the escalation of Judaization and settlement operations, noting that the occupation is also planning to establish three new settlements in Nablus, Salfit and Hebron, and has also seized 22,000 dunums of lands from the towns of Al-Sawahrah Al-Sharqiya and Al-Nabi Musa. south of Jericho with the aim of completing the settlement cordon on East Jerusalem and displacing Palestinians from that area.
In turn, the Secretary-General of the Palestinian National Initiative, Mustafa Barghouti, indicated that the occupation’s intention to displace thousands of Palestinians from Masafer Yatta in Hebron and establish 4,000 settlement units is a dangerous escalation that came as a result of the international community’s ignoring the crimes and violations of the occupation, calling on the United Nations to take practical steps that oblige the occupation to stop the ethnic cleansing and apartheid operations. practiced against the Palestinian people.
The Palestinian presidency confirmed that settlement is a crime that amounts to a war crime in accordance with international law, warning against the consequences of the continued occupation of seizing Palestinian lands and displacing them from it, and calling on the international community to assume its responsibilities and implement its relevant decisions to stop settlements and end the occupation.
