An overturned truck caused a long traffic jam on the A8 on Saturday.

The driver decided to make himself something to eat while driving.

Irschenberg – Traffic jams on the A8 at Irschenberg is actually nothing new for those who know the area in the north of the Miesbach district.

Accidents happen there all the time.

On Saturday, May 7th, however, there was an accident that was not only annoying, but also avoidable.

Because a truck had turned sideways, from midday almost nothing worked anymore.

As the Holzkirchen traffic police wrote in a press release, the accident happened on the A8 near Irschenberg around 2 p.m.

A semi-trailer was on its way to Munich.

He then crashed into the crash barrier, first on the left and then on the right.

The force rocked the car and landed on its side.

Because he broke through the central barrier, there were also traffic obstructions in the direction of Salzburg.

The left lane was blocked here.

In the opposite direction, nothing worked in the left and middle lanes.

Around 4.30 p.m. there was an update from the traffic police.

The rescue work initially continued.

However, the first details of the accident came to light.

The driver of the Polish articulated lorry, a 52-year-old man, is said to have had a snack while driving, according to witnesses.

Because he was probably missing some ingredients, he is said to have looked for them on the passenger side.

He went off the road and the accident took its course.

The accident ended relatively lightly for the 52-year-old.

According to the police, he is said to have broken his hand.

He was taken to a nearby hospital in an ambulance.

The officials estimate the damage to the corridor and crash barrier to be 5,000 euros.

More broke on the truck.

The police estimate the damage at 100,000 euros.

The fire brigades from Irschenberg and Weyarn as well as the Holzkirchen and Rosenheim motorway maintenance departments were involved in salvaging the semitrailer.

Meanwhile, traffic in the direction of Munich was backed up for about six kilometers.
