Election winner Günther: votes gained from almost all camps

Rarely has an election winner been received as euphorically as Daniel Günther at the CDU election party in Kiel: More than 43 percent for the Christian Democrats means the best result for the party in Schleswig-Holstein since the 1980s.
The clear loser of the evening is the SPD.
A first analysis of voter migration by Infratest dimap shows how the success of the CDU came about - and who the Christian Democrats hounded voters from.
The election research institute creates the hike based on its own surveys, the provisional final result and other official statistics.
The values are a rough estimate of how many voters a party was able to retain compared to the previous election and how many migrated to and from other parties.
According to the evaluation, the
CDU
was able to win voters from almost all camps - most of them from the Social Democrats: The Christian Democrats took 62,000 votes from the SPD.
The CDU was also able to grow at the expense of the previous coalition partners FDP and Greens.
The fact that 17,000 people who did not vote in 2017 now voted for the Prime Minister's party also contributed to the success of the CDU.
The end of the evening was bitter for Thomas Losse-Müller.
His
SPD
lost votes to almost all of its political competitors.
In addition to the Union, the Greens in particular benefited from this - the SPD lost 36,000 votes to them and 16,000 to the South Schleswig Voters' Association SSW.
28,000 people who voted for the SPD in 2017 did not vote this time.
The FDP
fared similarly to the SPD,
which also lost votes in almost all camps.
Only against the AfD is the balance of the Liberals positive with 6000 votes won.
The
AfD
, most likely no longer represented in the new state parliament, lost the most votes to the CDU.
7,000 people who voted for the AfD in 2017 now voted for the Christian Democrats.
6,000 former AfD voters stayed away from the election, and another 6,000 votes went to the FDP.
CDU in the group Ü70 particularly strong
The evaluation by age group shows that the CDU was able to score particularly well with older people.
55 percent of people over 70 voted for Günther's party.
The CDU's share of the vote shrinks with age.
The Greens are ahead of the boys: they received a quarter of the votes in the 16 to 24 age group.
The FDP also achieved its strongest result in the youngest age group.
Conservative scores particularly well with people with a simple level of education
The analysis also shows that the CDU scored particularly well with people with a simple education.
In this group of voters, the party won half of the votes, and another quarter of these votes went to the SPD.
But the CDU is also the strongest among people with a high level of education.
It is remarkable that the Greens did not succeed in reaching people with a low level of education in Schleswig-Holstein either: only six percent of this voter group voted for the eco-party.
In contrast, among people with a high level of education, the party is the second strongest force.
Hardly any differences in voting behavior by gender
The voting behavior of women and men hardly differed.
The Greens do slightly better with women than with men, with the AfD it is the other way around.
This trend was also observed in previous elections.
